- The American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) has announced the recipients of its annual recognition prizes for 2024, which honor outstanding contributions in gastroenterology and hepatology. These awards will be presented at Digestive Disease Week® 2024 in Washington D.C.
- Among the recipients are Bishr Omary, MD, PhD, awarded the Julius Friedenwald Medal, AGA’s highest honor, for his extensive service and leadership in gastroenterology. Other awardees include Hashem B. El-Serag, MD, MPH, for the William Beaumont Prize in Gastroenterology, and Sophie Balzora, MD, for the Distinguished Service Award in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
