Gastroenterology pay hit $453,000 in 2022, compared to $406,000 in 2021, an 11.58 percent jump. 2. Gastroenterology is the physician specialty with the second-highest pay increase from 2021 to 2022, second to otalytarynology, which saw a 12.5 percent rise.

Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is essentially a pulmonary disease due to SARS-CoV-2 infection of the respiratory tract. However, it can also proliferate in the intestinal tract. Of note, over 50% of COVID-19 patients exhibit SARS-CoV-2 shedding in their stools, indicated by the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in their feces. The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron and Delta strains replicate in the airways. However, the proliferation capabilities of the strains in intestinal organoids are unknown.
Not only did a majority of each group say they hadn’t heard of biosimilars, but those who had heard of them had negative perceptions. Education among providers around the safety and efficacy of biosimilars has been important for uptake of these agents, but education among patients and caregivers is also crucial. A study published in Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition found that not only had a majority of pediatric patients and caregivers not heard of biosimilars, but those who had heard of them were more likely to have a negative perception.
Currently, the best performing methods in colonoscopy polyp detection are primarily based on deep neural networks (DNNs), which are usually trained on large amounts of labeled data. However, different hospitals use different endoscope models and set different imaging parameters, which causes the collected endoscopic images and videos to vary greatly in style. There may be variations in the color space, brightness, contrast, and resolution, and there are also differences between white light endoscopy (WLE) and narrow band image endoscopy (NBIE). Fragmentation of care is often associated with disadvantaged populations and poorer healthcare outcomes. Paradoxically, a recent study found better survival in pancreatic cancer patients who sought treatment at multiple institutions. “The care of pancreatic cancer patients involves coordination of specialized multidisciplinary providers and involves multimodal therapy, including surgical resection and chemotherapy,” said Victoria Bouillon, MD, a general surgery resident at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, in Mobile, at the 2022 Southeastern Surgical Congress.
