Ambience Healthcare, known for its comprehensive AI operating system for healthcare organizations, has successfully raised $70 million in a Series B funding round. This significant investment was co-led by Kleiner Perkins and the OpenAI Startup Fund, with contributions from existing investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Optum Ventures. The funding will be used to scale Ambience’s AI operating system, which is already making strides in the healthcare sector.
The company’s AI operating system offers a suite of applications designed to alleviate clinician burnout, enhance system efficiency, and enable high-quality care. This includes AutoScribe, a real-time AI medical scribe; AutoCDI, a point-of-care CDI assistant; AutoRefer, an AI software for improving clinical handoffs; AutoAVS, an after-visit summary tool; and the upcoming AutoPrep for intelligent pre-charting.
Ambience’s products have been rapidly adopted by major healthcare organizations like UCSF, Memorial Hermann Health System, and The Oncology Institute, demonstrating clear financial ROI through rapid clinician adoption and seamless integration with major electronic medical records systems.
The platform’s unique approach customizes the AI operating system for each clinical specialty, addressing the diverse needs of different departments within healthcare systems. This customization has led to a significant reduction in documentation time, improved coding integrity, and at least a 5X return on investment for healthcare organizations.
The recent funding will enable Ambience Healthcare to accelerate its product roadmap, build out dedicated teams for health system partners, and continue developing the most capable AI foundation models for medicine. Additionally, the company has set aside a portion of the raise for potential strategic partners, including Memorial Hermann, which decided to invest in Ambience after witnessing the platform’s impact across various care settings.
