Dr. Neil Sharma has recently joined Peak Gastroenterology Associates in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Peak is known as the largest provider of gastroenterology and related services in the state. Dr. Sharma is a highly regarded board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional gastroenterologist and endoscopist. In his new role, he will lead Peak’s interventional program.
Previously, Dr. Sharma was associated with Parkview Health in northeast Indiana, where he served for over a decade. His notable achievements include being the first President of the Parkview Cancer Institute, which he helped develop. Under his leadership, the institute was recognized in the top 100 by Becker’s Hospital Review and received accolades from the Commission on Cancer.
Dr. Prashant Krishnan, Chief Medical Officer at Peak, praised Dr. Sharma for his leadership in interventional endoscopy and endoscopic oncology, noting his passion for patient outcomes and advancements in the field. Dr. Sharma himself expressed eagerness to contribute to Peak’s commitment to healthcare excellence and patient care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sharma is a distinguished academic, researcher, and speaker with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He has lectured both nationally and internationally, and has been involved in significant research, particularly in pancreatic and foregut cancers, endoscopic resection, and various endoscopic interventions. His academic roles have included serving as an Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine and mentoring medical students and residents.
Dr. Sharma’s educational background includes a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida at the H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center & Research Institute, and a fellowship in Interventional Endoscopy at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
