Century Health is partnering with GI Partners of Illinois, the largest independent physician-led gastroenterology practice in Illinois, to build a longitudinal real-world data ecosystem spanning tens of thousands of GI patients. The collaboration will use Century Health’s AI-powered Clinical Health Abstraction & Retrieval Model (CHARM) to extract insights from both structured and unstructured records—including physician notes, pathology reports, labs, imaging and endoscopy reports—that traditionally require extensive manual abstraction.
The goal is to generate research-grade evidence around IBD and MASH, helping researchers and life sciences companies better understand disease progression, treatment effectiveness and real-world patient outcomes. The partnership also creates opportunities to use community-based data in research, potentially capturing patient experiences and treatment journeys that are often underrepresented in traditional clinical research.
The announcement also highlights a broader shift in GI: independent practices are becoming sources of sophisticated clinical data and innovation infrastructure, rather than simply sites where care is delivered. GI Partners of Illinois has already implemented AI initiatives across revenue cycle management, clinical documentation, patient engagement and care coordination; this partnership extends that strategy into AI-powered clinical research and evidence generation.
