Study data published in Gut identified progressive deviations in the development of gut microbiota in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Compared with neurotypical children, patients with ASD displayed early unsustainable and immature microbiota, decreased alpha diversity, and difficulties or obstructions in the colonization of early key bacterial groups.
