Andrew Chan, MD
Dr. Chan is the clinical research councillor for the American Gastroenterological Association and a professor of medicine at Boston-based Harvard Medical School. A leading investigator in cancer prevention, he also serves as a professor of immunology and infectious diseases at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, chief of the clinical and translational epidemiology unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the director of epidemiology at the MGH Cancer Center.
Khyati Mehta, MD
Dr. Mehta is a GI specialist at Loma Linda (Calif.) University Children’s Hospital. She is piloting a program to implement transnasal endoscopy without sedation in children. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopies with biopsies often require deep sedation or general anesthesia, which takes children several hours to recover.
Patricio Polanco, MD
Dr. Polanco is an associate professor of surgery at Dallas-based University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is also the director of UTSW’s Robotic Surgery Training Program and co-director of the Pancreatic Cancer Program. He recently led a study about how robotic surgery is associated with improved outcomes over laparoscopic procedures for colon cancer patients undergoing colectomies.
