Franklyn Rocha Cabrero M.D. graduated from his neurophysiology fellowship last year already knowing he didn’t want the same lifestyle as his attending physicians.
He often saw them working past 10 p.m. writing notes. They seemed to have little autonomy to make their own decisions. Junior doctors in particular seemed to be getting the short end of the stick.
“Everyone surrounding me was burned out and I did not want to go through that cycle,” Cabrero said.
Instead, he decided to become a free agent.
