Physicians at the American Medical Association (AMA) annual House of Delegates meeting advocated for the AMA to take a more active role in addressing healthcare consolidation. They pushed for the production of comprehensive annual reports on the topic, which could be used to support legislative changes.
The request came from the AMA’s Private Practice Physicians Section, who argued that healthcare consolidation has negative consequences for physicians. They believe that consolidation limits physicians’ autonomy, imposes restrictions on their practice, and contributes to increased burnout.
