GI MASTERMIND 2023
THRIVE, NOT JUST SURVIVE
GI physicians are having to do more and more for less and less. Inefficiency, costs, payor and health system dominance, shortage of qualified personnel, EHR frustrations and a resistance to change amongst partners contribute to ongoing frustrations.
While GI practices are occupied with day-to-day issues, the world of GI is getting disrupted by the forces of digital and business. The mindset that the old norm of limited service lines and diagnostic procedures will remain points to an uncertain future.
Advances in the microbiome, personalized medicine, DNA and RNA-based technology, virtual care, GI psychology, wearables, artificial intelligence are reshaping GI care as we know it.
What happens next depends on the side of disruption you end up in: disrupted OR disruptor?
The GI Mastermind is a community of likeminded, entrepreneurial, innovative leaders who care enough about GI to prepare and position themselves for the future.

Welcome to GI Mastermind 2023
"Be prepared for a deep, personal and intellectually challenging dive."
"I have never attended a more real-life, in-your-face, reality check for gastroenterologists."

“When one thinks of educational programs, they are often focused on obtaining, reviewing, or retaining knowledge. GI Mastermind goes well beyond that. The measurement of IMPACT comes to mind. It is immediate and awakening. I have never attended a more real-life, in-your-face, reality check for gastroenterologists. Future change is exponential. Change is now.”

About GI Mastermind
The GI Mastermind (GIMM) started as an experiment in 2021 to help GI leaders see the future through the lens that I was seeing. It was to help the industry implement takeaways from my book, Scope Forward (2020). The outcomes have been stunning. New leadership opportunities, new startups, new service lines, new ancillaries, new industry collaborations – GI Masterminders have shown what’s possible when they decide to lead and build the future of gastroenterology.
GIMM will help you gain deep insights into the tectonic shift to digital health. When you connect the dots to the future, you will be able to integrate technological trends into your present business. The course will help you look beyond traditional business models of care. You will begin to innovate like a startup. That will help you cut costs and find new service lines. Finally, you will gain a fresh perspective on leadership for a post-pandemic world. It’ll reflect on how you influence your staff, partners and the industry.
There are three core circles of the GI Mastermind: DIGITAL, BUSINESS, LEADERSHIP. That foundation will help you prepare and build the bridge to the future of gastroenterology on your terms. In addition to gaining insights from core sessions, you will network with GI industry leaders in an open, intimate setting that doesn’t exist anywhere else.

- Create the resources you need

LEADERSHIP
Technology and business models are enablers. What actually matters is authentic leadership that can mobilize people toward action. Be a positive force in a post-pandemic world.

FAQs
What’s the background to the three themes of digital, business, and leadership?
20 years ago, we would categorize Internet-enabled businesses separately. But today, all businesses are Internet-enabled. Similarly, today we distinguish between digital health companies and others. In the next decade, all healthcare businesses will be digital health business (digital). When you go through a digital health transformation older business rules don’t apply. We need newer business models (business). That also means we need a mindset that’s geared toward unlearning and relearning – not just once but constantly (leadership). That’s how the three, overlapping themes of digital, business, and leadership evolved.
Why is it called Mastermind vs. Master Class?
A master class is an instructor-led one-way street. In a Mastermind, we are equal contributors. We offer our perspective and takeaway fresh insights from others. Far into the future, you’ll gain by the deep relationships you’ll form during the Mastermind.
Who will be conducting the sessions?
I (Praveen) will be conducting the core sessions. We’ll invite expert guests and engage in deeper conversations on specific topics.
Here’s my professional background in technology and business. What you may not find online is my background in mindfulness training and yoga – today, that forms the foundation of all my work.
I’ve come to realize – especially during the pandemic – that the intersection in digital, business and leadership is what’s needed for the future of healthcare.
How will we communicate between sessions?
We’ll communicate via email, LinkedIn and Zoom between sessions.
What changes must I expect to see happen a year from now?
The GI Mastermind is a practical program where you are expected to implement insights in your businesses or careers. For example, you’ll get to “test” virtual reality therapy, apps or create a logo design competition via 99designs.
My hope is for the program to spur innovation, new startups, new GI ancillaries, business relationships, investment opportunities and become an ongoing resource for you well into the future. At a higher level, result in industry transformation.
Who’s in the program?
The program involves an eclectic mix of private practice gastroenterologists (small, midsize and large groups), GI-tech investors, entrepreneurs and senior corporate leadership. The richness of the Mastermind experience comes from the intersection of these backgrounds. What connects the group is a real desire to build a different future for GI.
What if I miss a session?
You’ll get the most value when you attend sessions live. However, recordings are available if you miss a session. You can also schedule a 1-on-1 with me on an as-needed basis.
What’s the Wisdom of the Mastermind?
You can bring your practical day-to-day problems and tap into the wisdom of the collective group. Cut your learning and implementation cycle.
My knowledge of [choose: digital/business] is very limited. Will it be difficult to follow the content?
We will cover fundamentals in a way that’s easy to understand and then move to advanced topics. The objective is not take you away from your core but to develop enough capacity to get work done from other professionals.
I’m interested more in [choose: digital/business] vs. the other. How can the program help me?
You’ll have an opportunity to choose projects and assignments of your interests in digital, business, or leadership. You’ll also meet others who represent backgrounds that are of interest to you.
How much time commitment will the program take?
Each monthly core session is for 90 minutes. It’s important to attend these sessions live to get the best of the Mastermind. Other activities: webinars, monthly assignments, team calls and projects will take at least 5-6 hours per month. The more you are able to invest in yourself, the more you’ll transform along the three themes of digital, business, and leadership.
